01Our story

Where one road found another

the long way to each other

How it began

A golf bay, a dance class

Mitch and Kristen started as coworkers and first got to know each other at a work golf outing when they ended up at the same bay. During one conversation that night, Kristen mentioned that she liked dancing, and a couple weeks later Mitch asked her if she wanted to sign up to take a dance class with him. From there, they just kept finding reasons to spend more time together.

What grew

Easy, from the very beginning

What started with dance classes turned into cooking dinners together, exploring Colorado, BBQs and hot tub nights, trying new restaurants, cozy nights in, and building a relationship that felt easy from the beginning. Mitch brought a calm, dependable presence into Kristen's life — someone who made everyday life feel steady, comfortable, and cared for. Kristen brought both peace and joy into Mitch's life: someone he could relax with completely, laugh with, and genuinely enjoy doing everyday life alongside. Over time, they became not just partners, but best friends.

“Yes!” — and what comes next

Mitch proposed, and since then they've been busy planning a wedding, turning the tiny house into a home, and getting ready for this next chapter.

Downtown Colorado Springs holds a special place in our hearts. It's where Kristen first felt at home after moving to Colorado — the excitement of a new place with so many spots to explore, and the daily walk to work with a view of Pikes Peak. It's also where Mitch and Kristen met, spent countless date nights, got to know each other, fell in love, and where Mitch proposed.

When it came time to choose a venue, we wanted somewhere that captured the significance of this chapter in our story. The Pinery on the Hill felt perfect — just minutes from downtown, with beautiful views overlooking both the city and the mountains. It brings together everything we love about Colorado Springs in one place.

05Questions

Useful particulars

answers, in case you wondered

We're keeping the celebration largely adults-only, with the exception of close family and the children of the wedding party. We adore your kids — but consider this your excuse for a proper date night.

Plus-ones are noted on your individual invitation. If your envelope is addressed to you alone, we hope you'll come as you are — and meet someone new.

We aren't running a dedicated shuttle, but the venue sits just west of downtown — a short rideshare from any of the hotels on the travel list. Ubers and Lyfts return into town easily through the evening.

Yes — parking is available on-site at The Pinery on the Hill. If you'd rather skip the keys, a rideshare from downtown is just a few minutes.

Three to seven minutes from any of the downtown hotels — roughly a mile west. Cars are easy to find before midnight; we'd recommend rideshare both ways rather than walking the route at night.

Both. The ceremony is on the hillside terrace (outdoors, weather permitting); cocktail hour and dinner are both inside. A wrap or light jacket for the terrace in the evening will be your friend.

We'd love for guests to dress up with us! Suits or dress pants with a jacket are encouraged for men (ties optional). For women, cocktail, midi, or floor-length dresses are all welcome.

Dinner is served buffet-style with gluten-free options available. Dairy-free choices are a little more limited, but represented.

Crisp, often gorgeous: 60° by day, 35° by night. We're keeping fire pits on the terrace through the evening.

A small field guide

three short chapters

A few notes for the days around the wedding — the places we'd tell our closest friends to find, in case you're staying long enough to look around.

I

Chapter I · To See

The west side of town

This is the part of Colorado you came for. Garden of the Gods at sunrise, Pikes Peak in your eyeline all day, and Manitou Springs tucked at its base — a one-street spa town that has barely changed in a hundred years. Pick one. Linger.

II

Chapter II · To Eat

Within a few blocks

Almost every restaurant we love is walkable from the hotels. Ramen on a cold night, tacos at the counter, a slice of white pie when you have twenty minutes to spare. Brunch before you fly home — Urban Egg, every time.

III

Chapter III · To Raise a Glass

On a free evening

A handful of bars we trust — a proper speakeasy behind an unmarked door, a sake den, and a few dim cocktail rooms that earn a second pour. Most are within a block of each other, which is dangerous in the best way.
